About
Mia McVey is an Irish self-taught Acrylic and Resin artist and an artisan crafter with a twist. Using wood, acrylics and resin as well as canvases to create beautiful pieces of functional art.
Her inspiration of Irish coasts and oceanic scenes has translated into Ocean-inspired palettes of different shades. Hues of blues, greens, aquamarines and foamy whites, along with the use of sand and shells collected from the beaches of Wexford make for a unique body of work. All pieces are handcrafted in her studio in Dublin.
All of Mia's serving boards are handcrafted by herself from sustainably sourced Irish woods such as beech, ash and Acacia. All jewellery, coasters are made from resin. As resin is a fluid art - no two pieces will ever be the same, meaning you have a beautiful one of a kind handcrafted Irish creation. She finds inspiration all around her, be it in actual artistic endeavours, her experiences in nature & travelling the globe, or even from several philosophical constructs explored through the medium of art.

Creating
When I start a piece, I choose the colours I want to work with, and plan out how I want the colours to interact. Normally I have a rough sketch drawn out or a mental image of what I want the piece to turn out like. I use mixed media such as resin, acrylics, pigments and inks that flow in their own unique way and create beautiful effects.
In addition, I also use stones, glitter, feathers, leaves, flowers, vintage keys in order to create some truly unique pieces. One of the main reasons I love Fluid Art (this is an artistic collective that refers to Acrylic Pouring and Resin artwork) is because each creation is unique and no two will ever be the same.
Vision
To capturing beautiful aesthetics inspired by nature or ideologies. Teaching classes and workshops in Fluid Art as it is still a relatively new artform.
