The River Styx
In Greek mythology plays an important role in the geography of the Underworld, since it divides the edge of the land of the dead and the underworld proper. It is the boundary that separates the world of the living and the world of the dead.
I wanted to capture the essence of fluid running water, with its Trickling tributaries carving paths down across the land. And to use lighter blue tones as though it's something that is thought of as problematic and evil as it related to Death and of course, Hades. I wanting to create a painting that captures the veil between worlds.
